Nikiski, Alaska
Daniel & Jocelyn Cox
It was only fitting that Daniel and his groomsmen got ready at Daniel’s Lake Bed and Breakfast. When I arrived, the boys were just about ready. All they had left to do was to pin on their boutonnieres. The brothers were on hand to help.
They had shot gun shells filled with flowers for their boutonnieres… Isn’t that just the cutest thing?
There was lots of fun during the groomsmen’s photos.
And a friendly yearling moose came along for the shoot! He just about snuck up on us!
Meanwhile, Jocelyn and her ladies were over at the Nikiski Rec. Center finishing up their last minute touches.
The affection of this family was constant. The sisters hugged each other so sweetly every chance they got.
All ready, and looking gorgeous!
I am in LOVE with the back of Jocelyn’s dress. And the front. Goodness… the whole thing was just stunning!
These sisters have such a special place in each other’s heart. When the Jocelyn’s sister gave her a long hug, there were many tears. There is so much love between them.
What a group! These bridesmaids were hilarious!
Thanks to Google Maps and these wonderful signs, we made our way to the Tesoro Picnic Grounds.
At the picnic grounds, Daniel got a phone call from his bride to be. His mom listened in on the sweet conversation, and tears glistened in her eyes.
Everyone should have such grandparents! There was so much love!
Haha! I love these guys! I promise we got some with nice smiles too. But this is my favorite.
People kept saying that this wedding was the quintessential Pinterest delight! I have to agree with them!
The guests were invited to highlight their favorite verse in a Bible for the couple as their creative idea for a guest book. I heard more than one guest say: “Someone already highlighted the verse I wanted to!” It must have been the right one! I bet I Cor 13 had a rainbow of colors!
Even the food was gorgeous! So much variety for the sweet tooth!
And then it was time for ceremony. Daniel’s mom held a photo of one of their loved ones that had passed on.
Grandma laughed out loud when she saw this: The ring bearers carried this sign and stick fishing poles! So cute!
And then came the moment. Daniels face when he saw his bride for the first time is one that I will always remember. It was excited… and then slowly crumpled as he was overcome with joy at seeing his beloved.
The two left the ceremony and went for a short walk, just to enjoy each other for the first time as husband and wife.
This is an idea I love! They decorated an actual tree with family wedding photos… added hanging tags with numbers for each one and posted a framed key, so you could match up who is who!
The boys held on to the flowers, and the girls showed off their muscles!
But mostly there was a lot of laughing!
This was an adorable story: These are all siblings. And the last time they had a photo together was before the youngest was born! On their wall, for her entire life she was not in the picture. So we took care of that, and then gave her a special place for another one! Such a great group of people with amazing spirits!
Little packets of rice were given to each guest.
After the sendoff, it took me a couple weeks to get all that rice out of my camera bags!
They walked through the line of people and climbed into a rowboat… they rowed across the lake to their waiting vehicle. It was the perfect ending to a gorgeous day.
But before I let them go on their honeymoon, we met down at the Nikiski beach for some really beautiful photos under the Pier.
Alaskan girls wear Extra Tuffs… even on their wedding day!
These guys are adorable!
… and at the end of a long day, all they could say was:
Daniel and Jocelyn, we were truly honored to be at your wedding!
