Our world has been thrown a curve ball this year with the COVID-19 worries. And all this happened while Jodie and Mason had wedding day plans that included 300 guests, a beautifully catered dinner in an elegant restaurant, and all the decor and beauty you could imagine. However, when the healthcare crisis hit, it was a super easy decision for Jodie to decide what was the most important. And that decidedly was to savor the family that could make it, and only her very very close friends. We pushed the date forward to just before mandates hit and we enjoyed the small event. But the beauty and feasting was there in full measure.
The wedding ended up being at Jodie’s sister’s home, in process of being built. It was simple and lovely and the love flowed freely.
Mason was looking very dapper in his blue suit!
Jodie’s favorite color: ALL the shades of blue.
She is so pretty!
Those blue eyes in the wintery setting…
No, she doesn’t look chilly at all in these photos… and while it was a mild winter’s day, here is a photo to let you know what Alaska’s wintery brides go through!
Somehow she makes that cold look easy!
I’m so thankful that Jodie’s parents were able to get to Alaska in time for this day! They certainly helped to make the day sparkle!
What an honor! Back in 2009 and 2010, I photographed weddings for two of Mason’s sisters… And we did a special ring bearer photo for both of them utilizing the little brothers! Ten and Eleven years later, those Ring Bearers are nearly full grown, and Mason had his Nephew be the ring bearer. But it was fun to recreate the same little ring bearer photo with the youngster! Its all in the family!
Last fall, Jodie spent countless hours harvesting raspberries to make into her delicious homemade Raspberry Jam for party favors! She made enough for the huge wedding she had envisioned before COVID changed her plans!
Who likes Raspberry Jam?
When he saw his bride come toward him, Mason smiled so big while he wiped away tears of joy!
All the littles fervently joined in prayer at the opening of the ceremony.
The new Mr and Mrs Venhaus!
This family has a new member! Time to celebrate!
Though not all of the Venhaus siblings were able to come to Alaska on such short notice, they made the most of it by loving deeply!
There were so many heartfelt toasts. I really feel that with small events like this, things can go deeper. Tears flowed as freely as laughter.
I don’t know why, but the father daughter dance always gets to me.
The shoe game is so fun!
The kids played outside and had a snowmachine ride… snowball fights and snow angels! This was true Alaskan family time.
And this little peanut tried on everyone’s shoes… especially the high heels.
A beautiful mama with the youngest of her 5 children.
Time for the getaway!
And then we went off site for some lovely bride and groom photos!
Alaska showed up in a spectacular way!
I loved being a part of your day!
